ABOUT US

I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me. Psalms 119:19

At pilgrimsacade.org.  We bring the message of our Lord Jesus on eternity close to the heart of the believers and help to deliver the message of salvation to a dying world.  Our great emphasis is that life on earth is truly a journey and that God's desire is for us to succeed in life.  It is our great desire to help fellow pilgrims to succeed in  this journey of life here on earth where others have failed. thepilgrimsarcade.org. provides a platform  where fellow pilgrims interacts in an atmosphere of love, hope and truth, to share their challenges and testimonies of progress and great deliverances of God.

We equally enrich the life of fellow pilgrims with expository teaching of God's words through His servants.

At Pilgrimsarcade, we are committed to charity work as a way of reaching the poor and the needy. Our major focus is to the aged and the homeless.

Empowered to please God

EMPOWERED TO PLEASE GOD

Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittal, sayings, Arise go to Nineveh that great city, and cry against it, for their wickedness is come up before me.(Jonah 1:1)

In our last discourse we emphasized the need to have the word of God to live by. I emphatically stated that it is the word of God that inspires a man towards the discovery of his purpose in life.

Let’s take another step further to look at the meaning of the name, Jonah or yonah (in Hebrew). For a meaning of the name Jonah, all consulted sources go with the word, Dove, but it also means Vexer, someone who does wrong, a wrongdoer.

The two words are symbolical and come with a message for today.

As children of God we do wrong things, sometimes we make God angry and even make others too. Sometimes in this state, we are convinced that we do not deserve God’s love and mercies. On occasions when we judge ourselves fair, we soon realize that before him "our righteousness is like filthy garments”. Despite all of these, His mercies abides still. He saved us from our sins and pours His grace upon us. We certainly need to quit doing wrong.

In the Old Testament the dove represent a symbol of purification. According to the Law of Moses those who cannot afford a lamb were allowed to offer two doves for purification. (Lev.5:7). The dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. It is the symbol of empowerment to do the impossible.

God no doubt catches on our weaknesses to bring out the best in us by bringing us to the saving knowledge of the truth, through a deep conviction by the Holy Spirit.

The greatest pursuit of every child of God is to please the father, the Holy Spirit (the dove) is given to help our human frailty, so that we become well pleasing to  God.

The Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy resident in Him, made pleasing His heavenly father the object of His focus. He said” And he that sent me is with me: the father hath not left me alone ; for I do those things that always please Him”. (John 8:29)

When we make God the object of our love and submit to the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us we will truly leave to please Him. Then we can certainly be sure that the world will come under our feet. Joshua made a choice when he said “as for me and my house we will serve the lord.(Joshua 24:15b)

Prayer: Let my life be a full expression of your grace.

Memory Verse: It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Let your word come:Jonah Series

LET YOUR WORD COME OH LORD.

May the riches of God’s goodness be yours today in Jesus name.

In the next couple of weeks we will look at the story of a pilgrim, called Jonah. The book of Jonah in the Bible is our reference.

We want to strictly make profit of the word of God, for the word of God is God’s breathed(given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience,(and) for training in righteousness(in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.( 2 Timothy 3:16.Amplified version)

Please come along with your bible.

There is a general agreement that Prophet Jonah wrote the book named after him in the bible. The name, Jonah, in Hebrew language means a dove. He is the son of Amittai-the truth in Hebrew language. He wrote to tell us of his own fault which today many will want to rationalize. He was called of God specifically to go to no other place but to a great city called  called Nineveh,” Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, sayings, Arise go to Nineveh that great city, and cry against it, for their wickedness is come up before me”.

It is important to point out, that what came to Jonah was the word of God, not the word, idea, or philosophy of man. You and I need the word of God. It is the word of God that inspires a man towards the discovery of purpose. Life is truly a journey; the word of God like a compass helps a man not just to locate his position, it also guides man towards his desired destination.  It is in the word of God that a man truly finds relevance in life.

Have you received any word from the Lord today? Remember “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from His mouth” (Mathew 4:4).

The word of God is life, honour, cherish and obey it.

May His word come alive and refresh you.

Prayer: Let your word come to me Lord, speak to me Lord, touch my heart and my soul.

Memory verses: “Receive I pray thee, the law from His mouth and lay up His words in thine heart. Job 22:22.
